Hearing Professor Patrick Madden self-righteously drone about ACA “math not adding up,” “integrated circuits,” and “doing your homework” is enough to make any of as tear up our degrees and stuff it into our ears. He is why people drop out of school. And that’s not just our opinion. A quick scan of “Rate My Professor” turns up gems like “he is so smug it is painful to listen to him,” “Not impressive” and “Thinks he's too good for [us].”

That's exactly what we DON'T need in 2018.

Patrick is quick to point out that he’s “not a traditional candidate” and “wasn’t born in a suit” -- which is, well, good to know. But at this point it would also be nice to hear that he’s ever held a job that involved more than staring at a computer screen. He admitted as much himself when he said “the first attack [on me] will be that I’m a liberal professor who does nothing” suggesting that “plenty of people from the chip industry who will vouch for me” -- sorry Pat, but that’s not going to cut it.

Patrick, you’re absolutely right that now “is not the time to sit on the sidelines” but sometimes, some people contribute most to the team by keeping the bench warm.
